Remote work and employee satisfaction/ performance

Introduction

In the past, working remotely was quite uncommon. Employment that does not take place in such a traditional fashion is referred to as remote work. It is possible to do it anywhere there is also high-speed internet. The lack of productivity was indeed a serious concern for companies.

Remote Work

The remote task is described as "a work schedule wherein employees achieve their normal work at such a site beside the normal workplace, endorsed by rapid technology interconnection" or even as "a flexible work schedule that allows workers to accomplish tasks for their organizations from home or even another remote area which is prepared also with adequate computer-based software on regular intervals, consistent, or exclusive basis" (Smith, et al., 2018). The advanced technologies make it possible to increase the productivity of employees who are working from home.

Job Satisfaction

Job satisfaction is very important in the employee-employer relationship since it affects turnover rates (Brayfield, et al., 2017). Individual viewpoints, according to research, have a significant impact on such a participant's levels of job satisfaction. Type of employment, company environment, human capital elements, personal traits, personal qualities, as well as psychological features are all elements to consider (Smith, et al., 2018).

Remote Work and Job Satisfaction

Remote working improved job satisfaction and productivity (Bailey & Kurland, 2012). Employee satisfaction is positively correlated with openness, life satisfaction, agreeableness, as well as openness to experience in remote employees. While there are acknowledged drawbacks of working remotely, they are surpassed by the benefits in terms of job satisfaction (Smith, et al., 2018). Also, Remote workers indicated "much greater overall job satisfaction." Despite the disadvantages of work overload and limited promotion opportunities, remote workers were shown to have statistically greater job satisfaction (Brayfield, et al., 2017).

Conclusion

Employees must be able to tailor their employment to represent what is expected of them, as well as choose where they work. Employees have a sense of empowerment and are quite happy in their jobs. Individuals who are more satisfied with their employees are more productive, have a greater degree of involvement, and become less likely to consider quitting their jobs.
